Malang Tempo Doeloe
Malang Tempo Doeloe (now we shorten it into MTD, shall we?) is yearly moment where Ijen Boulevard turns into old style street, full with old style shops and old style people, too. As it’s called means ‘Old Times Malang’. It’s annouced to celebrate Malang City’s anniversary. First day went there with my desired pals, we wore ‘Batik’ according to the theme of old style. We took a walk around to see the stalls; there might be some who sell something catchy. There were. Yes, old style cuisine was total rocks. There were ‘gulali’, ‘es gandol’, ‘sari tebu’, and so on. But those weren’t what I was looking for: something that was eye-catchy and unique. My choice was placed on a ‘Blangkon’; male (I know I’m female, nuff said) headwear made from batik. In the night, we spent all the starry sky by riding ferris wheel, ‘Colombus’, and finally dinner (with snacks, dang!) Next day, I went there with eHe, my beloved clique, to enjoy what I had enjoyed previous day. But MTD always has a surprise and is no same everyday. So why not, I was still going there to enjoy oldie bike parade. And in the middle of parade, there was mayor skipped out the parade and waving to us, the citizens. As a pedestarian he walked exactly in front of me and suddenly I shouted ‘HEY MAN YEAH MAN!’ and waving toward him. Dude, he replied ‘HI THERE KID!’ What a big man. Afterwhile nothing special. But we went to the museum (it was my 2nd visit) and I now know how awesome it was. Old style ROCKS.
